Borrowing Information

Use the online GIL-Find Catalog to search for a book or other items at one of the UGA Libraries or at another University System of Georgia library. Login to your library account to make a request and choose a pickup location. All eligible students, faculty and staff can request delivery of eligible circulating books from the UGA Libraries, as well as from other libraries in the University System of Georgia.

A picture ID is required to borrow materials from the University of Georgia Libraries. While the preferred form of identification is the UGA ID card, a current, government-issued picture ID - such as (but not limited to) a driver's license, Georgia ID card, US passport, or US military ID - may be used instead. You must be enrolled or currently employed at UGA to be eligible for borrowing privileges.

Patrons are financially responsible for damages that occur while library materials are in the patrons' possession. If library materials are lost, the patron is responsible for the cost of replacement.

Visitors are welcome at all UGA Libraries locations during daytime business hours. Access to the Main Library and the McBay Science Library after 6:00pm is open to those with a UGA or other College ID only.

Books can be returned to any library location on the Athens campus except the Miller Learning Center and the Richard B. Russell Jr. Special Collections Libraries Building.

Renewing Library Materials

Eligible items can be renewed online. Check our quick guide on types of loanable materials.

Library materials will not be renewed if:

• the item is needed for course reserves
• the library account is restricted for some reason
• the item has reached maximum allowed renewals
