Request a PDF - Articles & Book Chapters
All UGA students, faculty, and staff can request digital scans of journal articles or book chapters from books or journals in the Main Library and the McBay Science Library. Requests typically take 1-3 business days. Requests placed on weekends or holidays will be processed on the next business day. See our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below for more considerations.
Before you place a request
UGA Libraries may already provide access to the full-text. Check first if your article is available online.
How to place a request
Step 1: Check if UGA owns the physical journal or book in our catalog. For journals, you can also use our journals by title search. Please confirm that your book or journal issue is available ("Item in place").
Then, complete our "Request a PDF scan" form for these items:
Step 2: If UGA does not own the physical item, request an article or book chapter through Interlibrary Loan
The Request via Interlibrary Loan service can be found using the UGA Access or Find It @ UGA button in library databases. Requests typically take 1-3 business days. It could take longer if the material is not widely held.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

-
Not if the requests are for material from different books or journals. See the above FAQ response for request limits for a single book or journal issue.
- How long does it take?
-
Items are typically scanned and sent within 1-3 working days. If the requests are incomplete, require additional investigation, or are placed on items that are not available, the scanning process will take longer.
