UGA Libraries Study Space Access Update

Submitted by Camie on

Beginning with the fall 2022 semester, access to UGA Libraries locations will be limited to members of the UGA community and other educational affiliates during late-night hours.

The Main and McBay Science Libraries will be reserved for UGA students, faculty, and staff starting at 9 p.m. and the Miller Learning Center at 10 p.m.* After that time, visitors must present their UGA or other valid college ID to enter the facilities, which will remain accessible until their scheduled closing times. For most weekdays while classes are in session, the Main and McBay Libraries will remain open until 2 a.m., and the Miller Learning Center will remain open throughout the night, with community access allowed again at 7 a.m.

The policy is part of UGA’s efforts to promote student safety on campus and is in keeping with visitor policies at peer academic research libraries.

For full hours for all UGA Libraries facility, see libs.uga.edu/all-hours.

*Update April 10, 2023: Miller Learning Center public access hours close at 9 p.m., in alignment with Main and McBay Libraries.
