“White Ribbon Army: Women’s Crusade Against the Saloon” takes a look at the Temperance Movement of the 19th century.
The exhibit, in the galleries of the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library through May, draws material from several collections and is sponsored by the Lucy Hargrett Draper Center & Archives for the Study of the Rights of Women in History & Law (circa 1550-1920).
As the United States became urbanized and industrialized, many became concerned with social issues such as poverty and the perception of declining morals. A series of social and religious reforms, including the Temperance Movement, swept the country.

In accordance with the University's delayed opening, the Libraries will open at 10:00 a.m. today.
The Main and Science Libraries will be closed from Saturday, December 23, 2017 thru Monday, January 1, 2018. The Libraries will open on Tuesday, January 2 and Wednesday, January 3, from 8am to 6pm.
Spring semester begins and the Libraries resume their regular semester hours on Thursday, January 4, 2018.

The UGA Gerontology Club is partnering with the Athens Council on Aging to sponsor a gift drive for senior citizens in Athens. The drive, Be a Santa for a Senior, is focusing primarily on nursing home residents and shut-ins—two populations of seniors that desperately need support and who are often forgotten during this time of year.
The Library Staff Association will be participating in this gift drive from now until December 1st. If you'd like to join with LSA in providing gifts, items may be dropped off at the Main Library Circulation Desk.

The Main and Science Libraries will be closed on Saturday, November 18 for the home football game - UGA vs. Kentucky. The outside book drop at the Main Library will be locked, as well.
Do facts still matter? UGA Libraries and the Georgia Debate Union are co-hosting a debate on the status of facts in our political culture. The affirmative/pro side of the debate will be Facts matter more than fake news in contemporary society.
