Intermittent Google Scholar access problems

Submitted by deborah on

UGA users are having intermittent problems accessing Google Scholar. The Google Scholar search box on our homepage directs all Google Scholar searches through our proxy server, so that it recognizes you are coming from UGA and shows you links to full text articles provided by UGA Libraries. Unfortunately, in some cases Google Scholar is blocking these searches and displaying an " Invalid domain for site key" error message. You may also experience it if you start at https://scholar.google.com, rather than the Libraries homepage.

This problem is being experienced by other libraries as well. We believe it's a Google Scholar problem, but we are continuing to try to find a solution.

There are a couple of options you can try, which might work to get you in:

Option 1: Add our institutional ID to your search:

First, close your browser window and start a new session.

Keep Current with Journals in Your Field Using BrowZine

Submitted by Kristin on

BrowZine lets you browse many of our scholarly journals on your phone or tablet. You can set up a bookshelf of favorite journals and receive alerts when they publish new articles or issues.

All you need to do is download the BrowZine app under the UGA Libraries’ subscription. The app is free for all UGA affiliates.

For details, see our BrowZine guide.

UGA-wide network and information systems outage, March 9

Submitted by deborah on

The University of Georgia will conduct network maintenance on Saturday, March 9 beginning at 8:00 a.m. This means that both campus internet and campus information systems will be down, possibly all day.

For the Libraries, this means that you will not be able to login to our computers, and our systems (e.g., websites and other resources) will be inaccessible. You will still be able to check out books.

Special Collections will also be affected. The outage will impact their ability to provide access to materials. If you would like to view materials on Saturday, please contact Special Collections at sclib@uga.edu or 706-542-7123 by 12pm on Friday, March 8th.

GIL and GALILEO will only be accessible if you are using a *non-UGA internet service provider* at the following URLs:
