Stillpoint National Poetry Month Reading

Stillpoint Literary Magazine will host an outdoor reading on Thursday, April 20th at 2 p.m. in front of the Main Library. This reading will celebrate National Poetry Month.  Anyone featured in recent issues of Stillpoint will be invited to read.

This event is sponsored by the Ruppersburg Stillpoint Literary Endowment, the Georgia Review, and UGA Libraries.

Family Day: Object Lessons with GMOA

“Object Lessons in American Art: Selections from the Princeton University Art Museum” pairs works together in fresh ways that start new conversations about American history and culture. Explore the exhibition, play Art Cart games in the galleries and create a work of art to take home in the Michael and Mary Erlanger Studio Classroom. Staff from UGA’s Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library will also share objects from their collection that tell stories about Athens.

Film Screening, The Living Record of Our Memory

Why preserve film in a world where audiovisual materials seem so readily available online? That is the key question posed in Film, the Living Record of Our Memory, which features interviews with film archivists, curators, technicians, and filmmakers including Costa-Gavras, Jonas Mekas, Patricio Guzmán, Ken Loach, Bill Morrison, Fernando Trueba, Wim Wenders, and appearances by Martin Scorsese, Barbara Rubin, Idrissa Ouédraogo, Ridley Scott, and Ousmane Sembene.
