Join us for Free the Tapes: Home Movie Edition, an exciting event this spring hosted by the Walter J. Brown Media Archives and Peabody Awards Collection (BMA). We're offering free digitization of audiovisual materials to all community members. You can lend us up to five items, which will be digitized by our BMA digitization unit staff. THE DONATION PERIOD HAS ENDED AS OF 3/29.
Your items will be returned, and the digitized files will be delivered on April 20. On that day, join us at Special Collections from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the culminating event — Free the Tapes: Home Movie Edition. It's a celebration of home movies where we will screen clips from the community videos we have digitized in the preceding weeks. Additionally, we'll showcase a curated selection of home movies and amateur films from our vault. Our archive staff will be available to answer any questions you may have about preserving your items. Plus, we'll unveil our AV Petting Zoo, giving you the chance to handle and interact with different formats and equipment.
Please note that community members retain ownership of the items they lend for digitization, and BMA will not keep any copies. Exhibiting your items during the event is optional, and your preference will be noted during drop-off.
