Virtual Panel: Behind the Scenes with Freelance Filmmakers
Have you ever wondered who does all the research for some of your favorite documentaries and films? The answer is freelance archival producers! These "footage detectives" dive into the archives and wade through decades worth of material to bring documentaries to life. Their profession has been described as "Indiana Jones for nerds." Footage researchers are born storytellers, and their behind-the-scenes tales are often even more entertaining than what we see on the screen.
Exhibition: Pylon: Tourists in Rock n' Roll
In 1979, Randall Bewley, Curtis Crowe, Vanessa Briscoe Hay, and Michael Lachowski formed the band Pylon in Athens, Georgia. The group created a danceable, new wave sound and unique visual style that became a foundational part of the emerging music scene in Athens during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
