Free the Tapes, an event highlighting digitized audiovisual materials from members of the community, is back this summer at UGA Special Collections! Join us on Saturday, July 26th, 2025, from 1PM-3PM to view clips of newly digitized and preserved videos from our community, play bingo, interact with different AV formats and equipment, and learn more about our archives!

Film Screening: Saving The Chattahoochee
On Tuesday, August 20th, at 5:30pm, join the Walter J. Brown Media Archives and Peabody Awards Collection for a screening of "Saving the Chattahoochee” at the University of Georgia Special Collections Libraries. Following the screening, director and filmmaker Hal Jacobs will discuss the documentary with author and former director of Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Sally Bethea, how the Media Archives assisted with the film, and take questions from the audience.
Gallery Tour
Join one of our newly trained student docents for a public tour! This free tour begins in the second-floor rotunda and covers all three galleries, including Hargrett Library's St. Catherine's Island exhibit. Free parking for off campus visitors is available in the Hull Street Deck.
