Artificial intelligence is increasingly built into research tools and systematic review software—but when is it appropriate to use AI in an evidence synthesis project?
This workshop explores responsible and transparent uses of AI and automation throughout the systematic review process. Participants will consider how AI can assist with tasks such as keyword discovery, search-strategy formatting, screening, data extraction, and visualization—and why it should not replace reproducible database searching or researcher judgment. We’ll also discuss human oversight, transparent reporting, tool costs and access, and current guidance for using AI in evidence synthesis.
