In celebration of Black History Month, join us Tuesday, February 21, 2023, for a screening of Donald L. Hollowell: Foot Soldier for Equal Justice. This documentary chronicles the civil rights attorney's legendary achievements, including serving as lead counsel in Charlayne Hunter-Gault and Hamilton Holmes's case which ultimately ended desegregation at the University of Georgia. Among Hollowell's other notable achievements were the release of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from the Reidsville State Prison, and the overturned execution of then fifteen-year-old Preston Cobb.
This free event starts at 5 p.m. and is open to UGA students. Popcorn will be provided for attendees while supplies last.
This screening is co-sponsored by the University of Georgia Libraries, the University of Georgia School of Law, and the Walter J. Brown Media Archives and Peabody Awards Collection.
