The UGA Libraries makerspace is an interdisciplinary space for currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff to experiment, create, and learn new skills.

Not sure where to begin? Stop by the makerspace during our operating hours to speak with our trained students and staff. They can help point you in the right direction, share resources and tutorials, or talk through an idea. You can also book an appointment with one of our makerspace students.

You will need to complete all required liability waivers and safety training for our 3D printers and Laser cutter before use. Once completed, you can reserve time with our 3D Printers and Laser cutter. link to reservation and the eLC course

Community & Courtesy
This is a shared space for all. Treat peers and materials with respect. When in doubt, ask. Learning is encouraged and supported!
Safety & Stewardship
Follow posted safety protocols and space policies. Report damaged equipment or hazards to staff promptly. Maintain cleanliness - leave the space ready for the next user.
Creative Integrity
Use tools responsibly and with intention. Document your process when possible - your work may inspire others! Support fellow makers. Collaboration strengthens innovation.
Growth Mindset
Begin boldly, iterate thoughtfully. Embrace experimentation and the occasional mess. Every project, no matter how small, contributes to our collective learning!

Makerspace equipment is intended to be used for educational (research and academic), non-commercial purposes only. Content must be designed by the user. All Makerspace users agree to respect the health and safety of the University community and abide by all applicable state and federal laws, University policies, UGA Library policies, and Student Code of Conduct. The University System of Georgia abides by the copyright laws of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code), which governs creating reproductions of copyrighted materials. All users of Makerspace equipment must abide by copyright and trademark laws.
No weapons, parts for weapons, weapon accessories, or weapon replicas may be produced with any Makerspace equipment. Makerspace equipment may not be used to create or view obscene or inappropriate content including violent or gory content, sexually explicit content, content that promotes or condones intimidation or violence against individuals or groups based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, nationality, veteran status, sexual orientation or gender identity.
Makerspace employees reserve the right to deny or cancel any job that does not comply with policy and report the infraction to the proper authority.
3D Printing
Makerspace 3D printers are used 3D Printers are available for prototyping, not for mass production of items. Makerspace employees do not edit files, create, or print items for users. 3D Print jobs must be completed while the Makerspace is open. Users may only use one 3D Printer at a time. Only library-purchased filament is allowed. 3D printer filament is not food safe.
There is currently no charge for filament for 3D printing.
Laser cutter
UGA Libraries Makerspace does not provide materials for use in the laser cutter. Please check with our staff on the type of material that can be used with the laser cutter and if there are any measurement guidelines i.e., width or thickness of material, that need to be adhered to.
Sewing & Embroidery
UGA Libraries Makerspace does not provide materials for the sewing and embroidery machines. Students are encouraged to bring their own fabric and thread.
