The right to vote is one of the most fundamental rights of our enduring democracy and cherished expressions of citizenship. This exhibit explores the long, arduous battle to extend suffrage to groups once denied this privilege. Despite the expansion of the franchise since the drafting of the Constitution, new tools of voter suppression and the disfranchisement of underrepresented groups have also existed. The exhibit also considers the historic evolution of voting methods along with efforts to protect access to the ballot box.
