His presentation will detail the story behind his 2017 book which inspired the exhibition, and his continued work with musicians in Athens, Georgia. This event is free and open to the public; a light reception will follow. Parking is available in the Hull Street Deck.

Join us for the 2024 Lillian Smith Book Awards Ceremony, which will be held on October 3rd, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET in the Decatur Library Auditorium. This free event includes remarks from both recipients and a Q&A followed by a book signing. The Lillian Smith Book Awards are sponsored by the Southern Regional Council, University of Georgia Libraries, DeKalb County Public Library/The Georgia Center for the Book, and Piedmont College. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested.

He will deliver a talk on food banks, their origin, and what factors go into the pressing, and increasing, global need for them. Dr. Leah Carmichael will moderate.

Join award winning poet and 2024 Georgia Writers Hall of Fame Honoree Wyatt Prunty for a poetry reading on Tuesday, October 15th at 6:00PM. The reading, which will take place in the 3rd floor reading room of the University of Georgia Main Library, will be followed by a Q&A with the poet and a light reception.
Join the Russell Library on Tuesday October 22nd, from 11am-12pm, for a conversation with former U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss and retired Marine Corps General Arnold Punaro for an insightful conversation on the state of American foreign policy and national defense in 2024 and beyond. Maryann Gallagher, Director of the Richard B. Russell Security LeadershipProgram (SLP), will moderate the event.

On November 14th, at 4pm, join the Hargrett Library for a discussion centered around LGBTQ+ advocacy in the legal field with guest panelists Michael Shutt, Nneka Ewulonu, and Patricia Thomas. Moderated by OUTLaw, the guest speakers will discuss their experiences negotiating legal and policy issues that impact LGBTQ+ communities, and the intersection of advocacy and law. A Q&A segment will follow the panel discussion.
